Merry Christmas

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas! Whatever you did and whomever you celebrated with, I hope you had a wonderful holiday.

Our Christmas highlights…

ChristmasEve2014
Greg and I went to my parents’ house for Christmas Eve dinner. My Mom made a fantastic traditional feast of turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, etc. Yummy! Thank you, Mom! We had fun spreading the love with a game of Hearts.

CamelbackChristmas2014
We thought a Christmas hike would be fun and we haven’t hiked Camelback much this year, so we joined the hundreds of other people with the same idea as us. The City of Phoenix did an overhaul of the parking lot at Echo Canyon and even with all the new spots, the lot was full. Luckily, we caught someone leaving the lot so we didn’t have to come up with a Plan B.

ChristmasDinner
Greg and I tend to do non-traditional things for the holidays. It’s funny though, even in being non-traditional, we are starting to set traditions. For instance, we often have seafood for Christmas. Today, we had lobster tail. We enjoyed a bottle of wine that we’ve been aging for 2.5 years (aging wine is a rarity in our house). We also decided to have some Yahtzee fun during dinner. Maybe a new tradition?

The holidays are a time to indulge in foods we don’t eat all the time. They are also a time to be social and enjoy extra time with family and friends. All of this is good for our health, so enjoy it. Just be sure to taper back on those indulgences as we get to the new year so you get back to your normal routine. Maybe even consider taking one small step in the new year to improve your health.
